Han Yonggang, general manager of China Railway No.4 Engineering Group Co., Ltd, has met visited some worksites of the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway in Indonesia, urging the participating CREC4 builders to make every effort to advance the remaining job in a bid to ensure the scheduled operation of line and make the project a model one.
During the visit on May 14 local time, Han toured the Tegal Luar station and the working area of an engine car station being built by CREC4, the CREC4 staffers’ production and living quarters.
As the first high-speed railway in Indonesia as well as in Southeast Asia, the $8-billion Jakarta-Bandung HSR is Chinese HSR’s first systemic footprint overseas, incorporating whole supply chains. As a signature link of BRI, the 142.3-kilometer-long HSR, with a maximum design speed of 350 kilometers per hour for the trains, is jointly built by China and Indonesia, and under construction by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China, a consortium involving Indonesia’s State-owned companies and China’s centrally-administered State-owned enterprises.
The Jakarta-Bandung HSR will have four newly-built railway stations (Halifax Station in Jakarta Urban Area, and Karawang, Walini and Tegal Luar stations in West Java) and one engine car station. CREC4 builders were constructing 27.55 km of the line, covering railway bridges, Tegal Luar station and Tegal Luar engine car station.
At the worksites, Han also listened to work reports on the work progress and the big business management.
Han called on the the participating CREC4 builders to pay attention to four jobs. First, it is imperative to raise the political standing and ensure the comprehensive success of all aspects of the Jakarta-Bandung HSR. The HSR, which fully started construction in June 2018, is expected to start operation in the first half of 2023. On November 16, 2022, the HSR ushered in its successful trial operation. Secondly, it is a must to enhance the understanding on the importance of the HSR, and strive to make it a strategic pillar and model project for coordinating CREC4’s overseas operations. Thirdly, it is necessary to carefully sort out the remaining tasks and bolster the construction work safely and in a high-quality manner. And fourthly, it is vital to strengthen the big business management on the project and strictly carry out various risk prevention and control measures.
